ERP for manufacturing firms : one chain from quote to work order.

Configurable products are defined with their options, price is calculated live as choices are made in the quote, a work order opens when won, and the materials in the recipe draw down from stock.

Why

What changes in this sector?

Cost known at quote time

Unit cost is computed automatically from the material and labor line items in the recipe; margin is visible while quoting.

Configured-product pricing

Option axes are defined; as choices are made per customer, the total price comes out by calculation, not guesswork.

Quote becomes a work order

A manufacturing line item in a won quote opens a work order with the selected configuration and recipe; material issue is tied to the document.

ERP for manufacturing firms

In firms that manufacture to order, the most critical point is knowing the cost accurately at the quoting stage. When cost is set by guesswork, profit margin only emerges after the job is done and loss-making jobs are noticed late.

Configured products and pricing

When a product has dozens of variations, keeping a fixed price list is impossible. Defining option axes and each option's cost impact lets the price come out by calculation rather than guesswork while preparing the quote.

Recipe and work order

Having the recipe defined in the system means the same product is costed identically every time. When a quote is won, a work order opens with the selected configuration and recipe; because material issue is tied to the work order, the stock record reflects reality.

Production and other processes

Production does not work alone. Workshop staff attendance is fed from the attendance module, customer and terms from CRM, and production equipment from the asset module.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a configured product and a manufactured product?

A configured product is priced by selecting from a defined option set. A manufactured product is costed via a material-and-labor recipe and produced with a work order.

Can stock counts and corrections be done?

Inbound, outbound and transfer movements are recorded; count differences are processed with a correction movement and leave a trail.

Are recipes versioned?

Yes. Recipe changes are stored as versions; which work order was produced with which recipe is traceable.

Can production be planned?

Production load is tracked through work orders; capacity planning is configured to need during setup.
