What is time & attendance, and what does it bring?

Who came when, left when, worked how many hours? Answering these simple questions by hand becomes impossible as headcount grows. Time & attendance automates exactly this.

A time & attendance system digitally records employees’ clock-in and clock-out movements and computes work time, overtime and absence from that data. The goal is to remove the error and time loss of tracking work hours by hand.

How does it work?

When an employee arrives and leaves, a record is created — via card, QR code, fingerprint or location verification. The system computes daily and monthly work time from these records. If shift, break and overtime rules are defined, the calculation is automatic.

Timesheet and payroll linkage

Its real value is being part of the chain, not standalone. Clock-in/out data feeds the timesheet, and the timesheet feeds payroll. So “who worked how many hours this month, what overtime?” isn’t carried to payroll by hand; data flows on its own. This saves time and reduces error.

What it brings the business

  • Accurate hours: automatic, error-free time instead of manual calculation.
  • Fair records: who came when is objectively clear.
  • Overtime control: cost is visible in advance.
  • Multi-location: branches managed from one centre.

A note on privacy: biometric data like fingerprints is a sensitive category. Methods like QR code or location verification can give the same result without collecting biometric data. The right system is both efficient and compliant.

Automate clock-in/out

Let hours and overtime flow from timesheet to payroll on their own. See the time & attendance module in a demo.

Frequently asked questions

What does a time & attendance system do?

It digitally records employees’ clock-in/out movements and computes work time, overtime and absence.

How does it connect to payroll?

Clock-in/out data feeds the timesheet, and the timesheet feeds payroll. So work hours and overtime flow to payroll automatically, without manual carrying.

Is a fingerprint required?

No. Methods like QR code or location verification work without collecting biometric data and are safer for privacy compliance.
